The first step in everything

Every single things must start with introduction. Do you agree? Simple example: someone come into your house without knocking or greet to you? What do you feels? Confuse? Angry? Indeed. Same as teaching, it must start with with introduction.

The term is set-induction. Set-induction is crucial to trigger students` schemata (students` previous knowledge). As i said before, if not the students will be confuse and think what the hell is the teacher doing in front of the class?! Actually that is what i feel because it is not easy to grab students attention.

Everything must be a failure. That is my failure in the set-induction and it make me look like a clown in front of the class. sigh.. however we learn from the mistakes and try to be better for the next session. Set-induction is the starting point for teaching. If i ave already screw up from the beginning, the teaching is meaningless.. I try to be better!

Twisted fate…

By: Ahmad Mokhlis B Inngam 144509

Do you still remember my blog entitled Teiresias, the blind prophet? He is one of the characters in the play ‘Oedipus Rex’. Well this time I want to blog about the story.

The story starts when Teirisias tells about the oracle to Oedipus. The content of the Oracles are; 1) a son will kill his father, 2) then he will marry his mother 3) he is the reason the plague starts. Who would have thought about this story could happened. Most of us know, a man marry his mother, when this incident happens, it will cause uproar. Well, it sure causes uproar as it disturbs the life of Oedipus, and causes his wife (mother) to commit suicide.
And his attempts to reveal the past make his life miserable because he is the culprit. Yet I pity Oedipus because his intention is to stop the plague but he is the tragedy.

The story make me think, will my future affect because what have I done during the past? In Buddhism and Hinduism, they believe in incarnation, which means they will have second chance. However, they must be good to incarnate in better form. If not they will incarnate into useless things such as cockroach. But in my beliefs, the next life will be after the judgment day, the day the God will count our deeds, then whether to heaven or hell.

Looking from other perspective, reading this story make me want to be a better person and trying to avoid be a bad person. However, what if fate is stronger than will? Will I be like Oedipus? Will my life become a tragedy? Who knows what will happens in future…

Being a writer?

By: Ahmad Mokhlis B Inngam 144509

Me as a writer? Puff, a funny joke. But I come up with two stories. (the first one rejected by Dr.Edwin, sigh). Writing one act play requires me to think critically and creatively.

Why? It is because of three reasons. First of all, you idea must be original. It is crucial because you don’t want to be called as copycat. Second, is the content of the one act play. It must suits the focus of your readers (in my case is upper secondary students), then it must have appropriate stage director and lastly, it must achieve the director standards (in my case is Dr.Edwin, I don’t want to be rejected twice)

During the process of writing, I can feels I am the characters and see from their points of views. Nice right. You can read my work shortly after I get my approval from my director 

Teiresias, the blind prophet

By: Ahmad Mokhlis B Inngam 144509

One of the most significance character in the play ‘Oedipus Rex’. A handicap like him has a page to help him in daily life, yet he is wiser than the king. As the subject of the king, the servant must act to king order but the blind prophet ‘order’ the king to follow his advice. I wonder why the roles of them are changed.

Teiresias is actually a Greek tales. From what I discover, there are two versions that cause his blindness. The first is because he accidently sees Athena when she is bathing and later she curses him to be blind. Another version is he change to a woman by Hera after his stick hit copulating snakes. After a few years, the same incidents happen and he was changed back to a man. Poor Teiresias. He has to undergo two different lives even though all that happen was an accident. Later he was asked by Hera and her husband about who are better in sex. Teiresias answer truthfully and because of that he makes Hera angry and he is curses to be blind.

So can you relate the character Teiresias? The idea is, he is telling the truth but no one believes him and then curses him. In the end of the play, the king blinded himself. Why???
